I cannot help but wonder what lies ahead,
I wonder what is in store.
I put one foot in front of the other,
as there is some fear and confusion in my core.
A storm is coming offshore,
but the waves have yet to rise.
It is calm and quiet now,
but we are heading for a big surprise.
The anticipation for the storm is building.
It is real and it is heavy for us all.
I look out to the clouds on the horizon,
and I choose to stand up tall.
A bird flies by me, as carefree as can be,
It heads towards the sand at my back.
Why don’t I have that carefree feel?
I feel like any moment I could crack.
The storm is churning closer to the shore,
it will be here very soon.
But I choose to be positive,
so I take a deep breath and head towards the dune.
I will endure,
and I will be stronger on the other side.
But this anticipation is weighing on me,
and I know it will be a bumpy ride.
I cannot help but wander what lies ahead,
I wonder what it is store.
I choose to put one foot in front of the other;
I will be strong and courageous to the core.
